Performs a search and replace operation on the elements selected in the File Path Editor browser. This function changes only the attributes and paths in Maya. The files on disk are unaffected by changes made by the Replace String tool.

Affected String
- Determines the string(s) that are affected by the Replace String tool. Select from the following options:

Node Name
- Searches the node names related to the elements selected in the browser list.

Directory Path
- Searches the directory paths related to the elements selected in the browser list. The actual filename is not affected.

Filename
- Searches the filenames related to the elements selected in the browser list.

Full FilePath
- Searches the directory path and filename related to the elements selected in the browser list.

All
- Searches the node name, filename, and filepath related to the elements selected in the browser list.

Search String
- The string that is searched and replaced.
Note: Search String is case sensitive.

Replace String
- The string that replaces the Search String text.

Replace First Instance
- When Replace String is run, only the first instance of the search string is replaced.
For example, if we want to replace the string Beast with Spaceman and Replace First Instance is selected, the string C:/Assets/Beast/Beast_Files/model.ma becomes C:/Assets/Spaceman/Beast_Files/model.ma.

Replace Every Instance
- When Replace String is run, all instances of the search string are replaced.
For example, if we want to replace the string Beast with Spaceman and Replace Every Instance is selected, the string C:/Assets/Beast/Beast_Files/model.ma becomes C:/Assets/Spaceman/Spaceman_Files/model.ma.

Replace
- Performs a search and replace operation using the parameters in the Replace String window.

Preview
- Opens the Actions Preview window, letting you preview the results of your search and replace operation before it is performed.

Cancel
- Cancels the search and replace operation and closes the Replace String tool.
