Manage BOM views

Note:

If you're a Fusion user, this feature is not available in the Components or Drawings workspaces. Learn more about system workspaces.

Workspace Manager lists every BOM view on the Bill of materials tab page, where administrators edit, clone, or delete layouts and designate which custom or system view appears first whenever an end user opens the Bill of materials tab.

Note: To save your changes, you must click Save Layout before closing the Bill of materials tab page. If you close the page before you click Save Layout, you will lose all your changes.

Select the default view

Workspaces that define more than one BOM view rely on the Default flag, because it controls which columns render first until an end user selects a different entry from the Views menu on the tab.

  1. On the Bill of materials tab page, scroll the BOM Views panel to the view you want.

  2. In that view layout's header, select the Default check box.

Workspace Manager sorts the panel so the default view appears at the top.

  3. Click Save Layout before you close the page.

Edit a view

Editing preserves the existing view record while you update View Name, column headers, Source Field bindings, or tile order, so you skip the setup that an empty layout would require.

  1. On the Bill of materials page, scroll the BOM Views panel to the view you want to edit.

  2. If necessary, edit View Name.

  3. Add, remove, edit, and reposition fields the same way you do for a new view. To swap one field for another, use the Source Field chooser.

  4. Click Save Layout before you close the page.

Clone a view

You can clone or duplicate an existing view to use as a starting point for a new view.

  1. On the Bill of materials tab page, scroll the BOM Views panel to the view you want to clone.

  2. In that view layout's header, click Clone Clone icon.

A duplicate view is added below the source view.

  3. Change the View Name of the new view.

  4. Add, remove, edit, and reposition fields the same way you do for a new view. To swap one field for another, use the Source Field chooser.

  5. Click Save Layout before you close the page.

Delete a view

If the view you want to delete still has Default selected, select Default on another view first so the Bill of Materials tab keeps a valid default layout.

Note: Deletion is immediate, with no confirmation dialog, and removed views cannot be recovered from Workspace Manager.
  1. On the Bill of materials tab page, scroll the BOM Views panel to the view you want to delete.

  2. In that view layout's header, click Delete Delete icon.

  3. Click Save Layout before you close the page.
