Product line assignment

A product may optionally be related to a Product Line within the Basic section. This will initiate the following automation in background:

• If the selected Product Line has a Product Name Prefix defined, this prefix will be included in the product’s number
• If the selected Product Line is linked to a Product Category, the product will be linked to this Product Category as well
• If standard milestone approvers are set for the Product Line, the product’s milestone approvers will be set accordingly. If there is no standard approver defined for a milestone on Product Line level, the product’s owner will be set as approver instead.
• If a Product Line is selected at product creation and milestones dates are not set for the product, the default milestone duration on Product Line level will be used to set default milestone dates. This of course requires having standard milestone durations defined on Product Line level.
• The product will be added to the Timeline view of the Product Line
• While the product is in an “In Work” status, the product will be listed in tab New Products of the given Product Line and Product Category. Per default, this includes the following product states: "Proposal", "Product Selection", "Product Development", "Product Launch".

The product may be assigned to another Product Line later on. In this case, the automation listed above will be triggered again and removed the product from the previous Product Line. However, the milestone dates will not be updated.
