Edit and Assign Supports

To Edit and Assign a Support Using the Direct Mode

  1. Click Model Attributes Supports.
  2. In the Assignment panel, ensure that the Direct mode is selected.
  3. In the Support panel:
    • Select a support type:
      • Nodal to assign a support to nodes.
      • Linear to assign a support to edges of surface elements.
      • Planar to assign a support to surface elements.

      If your model does not include these three types of elements, only support types applicable to elements in your model are active.

    • Select a support from the list.

      Optionally, click if you want to edit the current support properties.

  4. In the drawing area, click to select an element consistent with the specified support type.

    Select one element at a time. For nodal supports, you can select nodes; for linear supports, you can select edges of surface elements, and for planar supports, you can select surface elements.

  5. The support is assigned to the element.

To Edit and Assign a Support Using the Selection Mode

  1. Click Model Attributes Supports.
  2. Select the Selection assignment mode.
  3. In the drawing area, select elements.
  4. In the Support panel:
    • Select a support type: nodal, linear, or planar.

      Only support types applicable to elements in your selection are active.

    • Select a support from the list.

      Optionally, click if you want to edit the current support properties.

  5. The support is assigned to elements in your selection that correspond to the selected support type.

Note: If you change the assignment mode from Selection to Direct, it cancels your selection in the drawing area.
