To Sketch a Joist / Joist Girder

1. Click Model Structural Elements Joist/Joist Girder.

   The Mode and Joist Properties panels display in the ribbon.

2. In the Joist Properties panel:
   • Select a material for the joist.
   • Select a type of section, or select Add New to create a new one.

     Optionally, click if you want to edit the current section properties.

3. In the Mode panel:
   • Select Horizontal if you want to restrict the creation of joists to the XY plane.
   • Select Chain to continuously place joists in succession. The endpoint of a joist becomes the start point of the next one. Press Esc to complete chain placing joists.
4. Draw the joist by clicking the start point and endpoint in the drawing area. The cursor snaps to other structural elements when you draw the joist.
