Sketch a Beam

1. Click Model Structural Elements Beam.

   The Mode and Beam Properties panels display in the ribbon.

2. In the Beam Properties panel:
   • Select a material for the beam.
   • Select a type of section, or select Add New to create a new one.

     Optionally, click if you want to edit the current section properties.

3. In the Mode panel:
   • Select Horizontal if you want to restrict the creation of beams to the XY plane.
   • Select Chain to continuously place beams in succession. The endpoint of a beam becomes the start point of the next one. Press Esc to complete chain placing beams.
4. Draw the beam by clicking the start point and endpoint in the drawing area. The cursor snaps to other structural elements when you draw the beam.
