Use Grids and Guides

Grids

  1. Select View > Grid > Display Grid (or press Ctrl+') to display a grid.
  2. Select View > Grid > Modify Grid to set grid properties. A grid popup menu launches.
  3. Select Choose Grid Color to set color for the grid line if desired.
  4. Enable Display on Top if the grid needs be displayed on top of objects on the viewport.
  5. Set Cell Width and Cell Height to set the grid dimensions.
  6. Select Save as default to save the current grid settings as default, so that next time the grid is enabled, the grid is displayed with the set properties.
  7. To hide the grid from the viewport, select View > Grid > Display Grid again.

Guides

  1. Select View > Guides > Display Guides to display guides to lay and align items on the viewport precisely. Rulers must be displayed to create a guide.
  2. Drag from the left ruler to create a vertical guide and drag from the top ruler to create a horizontal guide.
  3. Select View > Snapping > Snap to Guides to turn snapping to guides on/off.
  4. Select View > Guides > Lock Guides to lock guides.
  5. Select View > Guides > Clear All Guides to remove the guides.

Rulers

  1. Select View > Rulers to display rulers. If rulers are selected, they appear along the top and left side of the viewport.

Render Toggles

Toggle the assets drawn on the viewport to render in different views.

  1. Select View > Render > Wireframe to display the images in wireframe mode.
  2. You can also use Ctrl W to view in wireframe mode.
  3. Select View > Render > Overdraw to enter a render mode that highlights areas of pixel overdraw, masks and filters applied to the image.
  4. Select View > Render > Texture Density to enter a render mode that shows the screen space density of texels in the image.

Snapping

  1. Choose the appropriate snap options (Snap to Grid, Snap to Objects, Snap to Pixels, Snap to Guides) from View > Snapping for position control and to align items.
  2. Select View > Snapping > Snap to Grid to turn snapping to grid lines on/off.
  3. Select View > Snapping > Snap to Guides to turn snapping to guides on/off.
  4. Select View > Snapping > Snap Align to turn on snap alignment.
  5. If snap alignment is selected, you need to assign snap tolerance between the horizontal or vertical edges of the objects, and between the objects" edges and the stage border.
  6. Select View > Snapping > Edit Snapping to set the snap alignment settings. A snapping popup menu launches.
  7. Enable Snap To options to set the items which are to be snapped to.
  8. Enter a value in the Stage Border field ranging from 0 to 99 or select a value from the combo box to set the snap tolerance value between objects and the Stage.
  9. Enter a value for Horizontal, Vertical or both to set the object spacing between the horizontal or vertical edges of the objects.
  10. Click Save as default to save the current snap settings as the default.
