Use the Cycle tab to set compaction forces.

Compaction Force

The amount of force to use for the fiber placement operation. This is implemented as an aggregated force KnowledgeWare parameter.

Enable Compaction Modeling

Enable compaction modeling on the fiber trajectories. Compaction modeling simulates the conformity of the roller to the surface and can make adjustments to the tool path accordingly. All of the fields in the frame containing this option are disabled if this option is unchecked.

Adjust Toolpath for Compaction Distance

Toolpath calculation depends on the distance from the center of the roller to the surface. Compaction causes this distance to change and can affect the toolpath calculation. Select this option to compensate for this.

Tow Compaction Force

The maximum amount of force each individual tow can endure.

Concave Adjustment

Defines how the compaction modeling algorithm should adjust the tool path when a concave surface situation is encountered.

• Use Narrow Roller: Indicates that the roller should be switched with another roller. The rollers that can be switched to are specified in the Equipment tab.
• Use Tows At Edge: Indicates that the course should use whatever tows possible at the edge of the roller and not a narrow roller.
• Ignore: Indicates that concave situations should be ignored.

Convex Adjustment

Defines how the compaction modeling algorithm should adjust the tool path when a convex surface situation is encountered.

• Narrow Band Around Center: Narrows the band of material around the center of the roller.
• Narrow Band At Edge: Narrows the band of the material at the leading edge of the course.
• Move Control Point: Moves the control point for the machine to accommodate the change in curvature similar to filament winding issues in convex situations.
• Ignore: Ignores compaction issues in convex situations.
