File Management Tools in Takeoff
In Autodesk Takeoff, you’ll work with both 2D and 3D files to perform quantity takeoff. To manage these and other project files, there are two tools available to you: Sheets & Models and Files. You can access these tools through the left navigation in Takeoff.
Sheets & Models Tool
You can use the Sheets & Models tool to publish sheets and upload models needed for quantity takeoff.
Publish PDF files as sheets in the 2D sheets tab of Sheets & Models. When you publish a sheet, the original PDF file undergoes an extraction and naming process so that it can be used by Takeoff. Read more about publishing sheets for Takeoff at Publish 2D Files as Sheets.
3D models (RVT files) can be directly uploaded in the 3D Models tab in Sheets & Models. Learn about uploading models for Takeoff at Upload 3D Models.
Published sheets and models can be used for takeoff in the Takeoff viewer.
To view, open, or perform takeoff on published sheets and models, you will need to navigate to the Takeoff viewer.
Files Tool
In the Files tool, you can upload, organize, and store any project documentation. Items stored in Files are accessible to other Autodesk Construction Cloud products such as Autodesk Build.
Takeoff users can publish PDF files stored in Files directly to Takeoff as sheets.
Learn more about the Files tool at About Files.
