About licenses and their assignment

The license type determines what areas of Upchain a user has access to (Web, plugins, etc) and what actions the user can take in each one.

A user must have a license assigned to their Autodesk account as well as a license assigned to their Upchain account.

The following lists the names of each license type that you may purchase from Autodesk and assign to a user's Autodesk account, and the corresponding license you would assign to a user's Upchain account. It also summarizes what each license type enables users to do in Upchain.

Note: The following does not describe what users can do in Fusion Manage.
Note: There is no Viewer license type to assign to Autodesk accounts. However, users who need Viewer access to Upchain (including Suppliers to access the Supplier portal) still need to create a free Autodesk account.

Each license type can access the following areas of Upchain.

Upchain License Types Web Application Office Plugins Outlook Plugin CAD Plugins

Note: A user assigned a Professional license with the Viewer role set as their primary role cannot log into the CAD plugin. This is because the Viewer role should only be used for those with a Viewer or Participant license.
