In Upchain, you can manage virtually any type of file as a document within a project. However, only some file types may be viewed in the PDF Viewer. Therefore, you may associate a document that is compatible with the PDF viewer to another document so that it acts like its "translation". This enables you to view a version of the document in the PDF Viewer while still managing the original in Upchain.
For example, if you want to share an Adobe Illustrator file with your team, you may add the .AI file as the original document and then attach a translation such as a PDF or image file.
The following information about translations should be noted as you read through the rest of this topic.
Attach a translation for a document in Upchain Web from a project's Documents tab in one of two ways:
The translation is added to the Linked documents and translations section of the original document's details pane.
The translation is added to the Linked documents and translations section of the original document's details pane.
If a change request (CR) or change notice (CN) has a document associated with it, you may follow these steps to attach a translation to the original document.
The translation is added to the Linked documents and translations section of the original document's details pane.
Locate the document in the project, CR, or CN and click it.
The document details pane opens.
Open the Linked documents and translations tab.
In the Translations section, locate the translation you want to view.
(Optional) Click the version drop-down list to see all available versions listed from latest to earliest and select the required version from the drop-down list.
Click View .
The chosen version of the translation opens in the PDF Viewer.
Locate the document in the project, CR, or CN and click it.
The document details pane opens.
Open the Linked documents and translations tab.
In the Translations section, locate the translation you want to download.
(Optional) Click the version drop-down list to see all available versions listed from latest to earliest and select the required version from the drop-down list.
Click Download .
Depending on your browser, you may choose where to save the translation.
The chosen version of the translation is downloaded to your computer.
When a document is cloned, a duplicate version is created with a new document number. When the original document is cloned, its translations are cloned along with it. If there are multiple versions of the translation, only the latest version of the translation is cloned. If a document has multiple translations then the latest version of each translation is cloned along with the document.

Locate the document in the project, CR, or CN and click it.
The document details pane opens.
Open the Linked documents and translations tab.
In the Translations section, locate the translation you want to remove and place your pointer over the translation's name.
Click Remove translation that appears to the left side of the translation's name.
In the Confirm dialog, click OK.
The translation and all of its versions are removed from Upchain.
