Check in an item

When you use the Check out function to edit an item, any changes you make to its files are not available to your team members until you commit your changes back into Upchain.

The Check in function saves all checked out CAD files to Upchain, creates a new file version for the affected files, but maintains the check out lock on the items so that you can continue working on them. Use this feature to save incremental changes you have made to an item into Upchain.

If you wish to save your changes to Upchain without removing the check out lock on the items, you should use the Save function instead.

Requirements

To use the Check in function:

Check in an item

  1. Refresh the cBOM view.
  2. Right-click the item and select Check in from the drop-down menu.

The CAD plugin now begins to save the CAD files (and any associated drawings that were also checked out) into Upchain. Monitor the Status bar to observe its progress. Do not close or switch the active CAD file in your CAD system until the Check in proccess has finished.

Note: If Upchain detects that no model changes have occurred, it displays a confirmation window asking if you wish to proceed. This is just to warn you that you may be making a new file version unnecessarily. Click Yes to proceed.
Note: You may see the BOM Anomaly window if Upchain has detected cBOM/eBOM quantity mismatches.

Once the Check in process has finished:

Note: A CAD file that has been registered into Upchain but does not have any item associated with it is called a phantom. If you wish to edit phantom files, your Tenant Admin must enable the tenant property file.checkout.phantom.
