Note: This feature is available only in Autodesk Vault Workgroup, Collaboration, and Professional editions. While the lifecycle definitions apply to multiple entities, the control preferences only apply to Vault files.
Configure your purge preferences for files assigned to a lifecycle definition to help manage Vault file retention.
Configure Control Preferences
- Click Tools Administration Vault Settings.
- In the Vault Settings dialog box click the Behaviors tab Lifecycles.
- In the Lifecycle Definition dialog box, select the name of the lifecycle definition, and then click Edit. The selected definition name appears in the title bar.
- From the Lifecycle States grid, select the state that you would like to edit and click the Control tab.
- Select the This is a Released State check box if this state is released.
Note: The system will always retain at least one version of a file with a released state.
- Select one of the following options:
- All No versions in this state are removed when a purge is performed. This option is recommended for states where not many versions are created or where each version is critical.
- First and Last All versions in this state are removed during a purge, except the first and last version in reach series. Use this option for states where the changes between the first and last file are useful.
- Last All versions in this state are removed during a purge, except the last version in each series. This option is recommended for states where a record that the file was in the state is important.
- None No version in this state will be retained after the purge hes been performed.
Important: No record of the file being in this state will exist after the purge.
- Click OK to save the changes and close the dialog.
