The imported file is compared to the specified mapping to see if any conflicts exist. Some conflicts that can occur include:
- The revision of a selected item is not in the current revision scheme
- The item revision in Vault Professional is later than the imported revision
- The unit of measure does not exist in Vault Professional
- The parent of an item can not be imported, preventing the item from being imported
Note: All conflicts must be resolved before importing a file. Turn on the Ignore all items with conflicts check box to import only items that do not have conflicts.
The Preview Results screen in the Import Wizard lists the items to be imported that conflict with existing items in Vault Professional. Items with conflicts are highlighted and items that cannot be imported are unavailable. Place the cursor in the Conflict column where a conflict is indicated to see a brief description of the conflict.
Ignore Items
- Turn on the 'Ignore all items with conflicts' check box to skip any item that has a conflict and then click Next.
Resolve Individual Conflicts
- Double-click a row containing a conflict.
- In the Conflict Resolution dialog:
- To skip importing the item, click Ignore. Note you can ignore any item, not just items with conflicts, allowing you to choose which items to import.
- If the item exists in Vault Professional, click Overwrite to replace the existing item.
- If the item does not exist in Vault Professional, click Create to add it as a new item.
- If you are creating a new item or overwriting an existing item and the Unit of Measure or Item Category doesn't exist in Vault Professional, you must map the value in the import file to an existing Vault Professional value. Select a replacement value from the drop-down list. Turn on the 'Apply to all subsequent occurrences of the value of the imported item' check box to apply the mapping to all occurrences of the value.
- Click Detail to display the field values for the item and the corresponding Vault Professional item attributes. This can be used as an aid in resolving a conflict.
- Click Done to resolve the conflict.
Note: If the imported item already exists in Vault Professional and is released, then the revision field value must be greater than the current value in the revision sequence. For example: for an alphabetic revision scheme, the value of the field in the import file must be D, E, F... if the Vault Professional revision is C.
