Modeling a Helmet Using the Ribbon

The ribbon is a customizable toolbar that provides you tools for editing Editable Poly surfaces.

In this tutorial, you use the ribbon modeling tools plus OpenSubdiv to create a Viking helmet.

In this tutorial, you will learn how to:

  • Use the Symmetry modifier to mirror edits to one side of a model.
  • Create loops by connecting polygon edges.
  • Extend polygons using various extrusion techniques.
  • Create beveled and inset shapes.
  • Smooth an object with explicit creasing using OpenSubdiv.
