What else is new?

This release of 3ds Max also includes the following changes and improvements.

Color Management

There are several improvements to OCIO-based color management:
  • The Hue/Blackness box and Whiteness slider in the Color Selector dialog are displayed in the rendering space when the Scene toggle is active.
  • The color management settings in the maxstart.max file are respected after File > Reset.
  • Custom object colors no longer appear desaturated.
  • You can control the threshold and intensity for out-of-gamut and other warnings for the Color Selector dialog in the [ColorPicker] section of the CurrentDefault.ini file.
  • The IDisplayGamma interface is being deprecated in favor of the ColorPipelineMgr interface. The first use of IDisplayGamma in a session logs a warning that it should be replaced for future compatibility.
Sample Skin Modifier Macro

There is now maxscript support for the Skin Modifier to let you easily identify and switch between painting mode and bone selection using a bound hotkey. This improved workflow means you can now bypass navigating between these two modes in the current UI. See Sample Skin Modifier Macro for more information.

Python 3.11.8

3ds Max 2025.1 has been updated to Python 3.11.8 with many security fixes.
