Plot to PDF

You can export your drawing as a PDF by clicking PLOT alt in the top-right of the header. You can plot a single layout, all layouts, or the current display in model space.

To plot a drawing as a PDF

  1. Click PLOT alt in the top-right of the header. Alternatively, type PLOT in the Command line and press Enter.



  1. Choose among the following options:

What to print: If plotting from model space, the extents are limited to the current display. If plotting from paper space, choose Current Layout or All Layouts.

Scale: If plotting from model space, the PDF will Scale to Fit. If plotting from paper space, the PDF will plot at 1:1, as determined by the Paper Size selected in Layout Properties.

Plot style: Choose from acad, Grayscale, monochrome, and None.

Paper size: Choose among the standard supported AutoCAD paper sizes.

Orientation: Choose Portrait or Landscape.

If you've connected your Autodesk Docs account: Save as PDF directly to Docs, specify the plot name, and set the plot location.

  • Note: This capability is available only for users who have appropriate Docs permissions levels. Docs users who want this functionality should reach out to their administrators for access.


  1. Click Plot.

You'll receive a notification with a link to preview and download the PDF when it is ready. Download the PDF to save it locally.

Note: If a layout has an unsupported paper size, its properties cannot be modified.
