Importing a STEP file into AutoCAD Products

Solution:

Do the following in AutoCAD:

1. Type IMPORT on the command line.
2. In selection list "Files of type" at the bottom select STEP.
3. Locate the folder containing the STEP file.
4. Select the file and click OK.
5. A window might pop up indicating that the import process is working in the background. Click Close.
6. In the lower right corner of AutoCAD, a notification message will pop up, indicating that the import has been completed. Click the link shown in the pop-up notification.
   
    

7. Use the EXPLODE command to split the assembly file into parts if necessary

NOTE: Importing STEP files is not possible with AutoCAD LT or AutoCAD for Mac.
