How to modify blocks that have been saved as tools in a tool palette.
Specify Overrides for Block Properties
Sometimes you need the block to appear automatically on a specified the layer or to have a preset rotation or scale.
- If the Tool Palettes window is not open, click
. Find
- On the tool palette, you can press Ctrl while dragging a tool to create a copy. This is useful if you want to create several similar tools with different property settings.
- Right-click the block tool and choose Properties from the menu.
- In the Tool Properties dialog box, set the property overrides for that tool.
- If needed, repeat for other versions of the tool.
Edit a Block Tool in the Block Editor
- Right-click the block tool and choose Block Editor from the menu.
Note: If the block definition for the tool on the palette is in another drawing, that drawing is opened in the Block Editor.
- Edit the block and click Save Block.
Update a Block Tool Insertion After the Block Is Edited
- In the tool palette, right-click the block tool and select Redefine.
You can also delete the tool, and then replace it using DesignCenter ™ .
Refresh the Image of a Block Tool
- Save the drawing.
- On a tool palette, right-click a tool and select Update Tool Image.
Update Path to Block Definition in a Tool
- In the tool palette, right-click the block tool and select Properties.
- In the Tool Properties dialog box, enter a new path in the Source File box.
