List of Prompts

The following prompts are displayed.

Name of text style

Specifies the text style name.

Enter the name of an existing file that you want to modify or enter a new name to create a new style.

?—List Text Styles

Lists the text styles available in the drawing.

At the Enter Text Style(s) to List prompt, entering the name of a style displays the name, font file, height, width factor, obliquing angle, and generation of the style and exits the command. Entering an asterisk (*) or pressing Enter displays the height, width factor, obliquing angle, and generation (whether text is drawn backwards, upside-down, vertically, or normally) of each style, and then exits the command.

Specify full font name or font filename

Enter a TrueType font family name or an SHX font file name. If you do not enter a file name extension, the program searches for an SHX file. If the file is not located, Windows substitutes the first located registered TrueType font.

All long file names except those containing commas are accepted at the prompt. The comma is reserved for the Big Font naming convention: an SHX file followed by a comma (,), followed by the Big Font file name. A space is interpreted as part of the font name, not as a carriage return.

Enter a tilde (~) to display the Select Font File dialog box, where you can select a font from the list.

Height of Text

Specifies how text height is calculated.

• To be prompted for a text height whenever you create text using this style, enter 0.0.
• To set the text to a specific height, enter a value greater than 0.0.

Annotative

Specifies that the text style is annotative.

• Create annotative text style. Sets the style to be annotative (Yes) or cancels the prompt (No).
• Match text orientation to layout. Sets the text orientation within paper space viewports to be the same as the layout orientation.

Width Factor

Sets the character spacing. Value less than 1.0 condense the text. Values greater than 1.0 expand it.

Obliquing Angle

Sets the slant of the text. Enter a value between -85 and 85. Negative values slant the text to the left

Display text backwards?

Mirrors the text display so that the characters are backwards.

Display text upside down?

Displays the characters upside down.

Vertical?

Aligns the characters vertically. Vertical is available only if the selected font supports dual orientation.
