About Slicing Solids and Surfaces

Product Documentation
Beginner

Modify 3D solids and surfaces by slicing, or dividing, existing objects.

When you use the SLICE command to slice a 3D solid or surface, you can define the cutting plane in several ways. For example, you can specify three points, an axis, a surface, or a 2D planar object to act as a cutting plane. You can retain one or both halves of the sliced object.

Sliced 3D solids do not retain a history of the original forms that created them. However, they do retain the layer and color properties of the original objects.
