To View Shadows in the Viewport

Click View tab Palettes panel Visual Styles.At the Command prompt, enter VISUALSTYLES.
In the top panel of the Visual Styles Manager, select a visual style.
Shadows are not displayed for Hidden, Wireframe, or Sketchy styles.
Set Shadow Display to Ground Shadow or Mapped Object Shadows.
