To Place Text Within Extension Lines

Click Drafting tab > Dimension panel > Dimension Style.
In the Dimension Style Manager, select the style you want to change. Click Options Modify.
In the Modify Dimension Style dialog box, Fit tab, under Fit Options, select an option.
Click OK.
Click Close to exit the Dimension Style Manager.
If there is enough room, text is fit between extension lines.
