Connecting to the Autodesk Fusion MCP Server
Start here (2–5 minutes)
Step 1: Start Fusion
Launch Fusion and keep it running. The Autodesk Fusion MCP Server is hosted by Fusion and is only available while Fusion is open.
Step 2: Enable the Autodesk Fusion MCP Server in Fusion
- Open Preferences in Fusion.
- Navigate to General > API.
- Check the Fusion MCP Server (runs locally on this device) checkbox.

Once enabled, Fusion will expose a local MCP server endpoint at http://127.0.0.1:27182/mcp.
The default port is 27182. If you change the port in Fusion preferences, update the URL in your client configuration to match.
Step 3: Connect your client
Use the following URL to connect:

Using with Claude Desktop
1) Open Claude Desktop extensions
- Open Claude Desktop.
- Go to Settings > Extensions.
2) Add the Autodesk Fusion MCP Server extension
- Browse the available extensions.
- Find the Fusion extension.
- Select it and install.
3) Verify the connection
Start a new chat and try:
Create a 10 mm cube.If successful, Fusion will execute the command.
You can also verify in Settings > Extensions. Under Installed on your computer, find Fusion and click Configure. If the Tool permissions list is populated, Claude is successfully connected. If it is empty, the connection has not been established.
