Synchronize

The Room & Area Sync tool for Revit from Autodesk will allow you to Quickly apply a standard set of parameters to all your Rooms and Areas and sync the data between them. The Synchronize tool will update Rooms or Areas to have matching data from corresponding elements.

Running the Synchronize tool opens a single dialog box. Room & Area Sync tool Setup is not required to have been run before synchronizing.

  1. Select if data is being copied from Rooms to Areas or from Areas to Rooms.
  2. An Area scheme must be selected for the tool to identify matching Areas. If more than one scheme's Areas are desired to be used, the tool must be run per scheme.
  3. "Blanks Only", when checked, will not overwrite any existing data in the parameters for the target elements.
  4. When checked, "Also sync spatial data parameter values" will attempt to copy parameter values between parameters identified and created with the Room & Area Sync tool Setup. If Setup has not been run, this option is inactive.
  5. The table lists all Rooms and Areas from the active schemes and will indicate matches when found based on insertion point, bounding box, and host level. "No equivalent room" or "No equivalent area" is written when a match cannot be found. For found matches, the source elements must be checked. Those selected will be synced and those not selected will be skipped. Checking the box in the "header" row will select all possible matching elements. Headers also allow for filtering and sorting to make finding appropriate elements easier.
  6. Configure will of the Room & Area Sync tool Setup tool.
  7. Update will run the Synchronize tool and update the values indicated in the table (5).
  8. Update and Close will run the Synchronize tool and update the values indicated in the table (5) and close the dialog box.
