New Dynamo Toolbox

We've made locating and launching Dynamo Player scripts easier and faster with the addition of a new Dynamo Toolbox. After launching Dynamo Player, clicking the Dynamo Toolbox opens a new window displaying icons for the Dynamo Player scripts installed on your system. Clicking an icon launches the script in Dynamo Player. In previous versions of Alias, you need to browse to your Dynamo Player script directory.

For more information, see Dynamo Player Sample Scripts.

Script additions and improvements

We've added new Dynamo Player sample scripts to the Dynamo Player directory in Alias. They include the following:

  • DP-Nurbs-Closed-Curves-to-Solids.dyn - Takes one or more closed curves and generates a solid NURBS object. Use the script to generate NURBS-based text from the curves created by the Text tool (Curves > Text), or use it create NURBS objects from any series of closed curve shapes. The script lets you define the resulting shape by adding chamfer, fillets, or a combination of these effects.

  • DP-Subdiv-Hexagon-Pattern.dyn - Generates a subdivision-based hexagon pattern on a NURBS surface. Use this script for quickly creating grill patterns. A preview option lets you experiment with different patterns before creating the real geometry.

  • DP-Nurbs-Diamond-Pattern.dyn - Generates a NURBS-based diamond pattern on a NURBS surface.

  • DP-Subdiv-Car.dyn - Creates a simple subdivision model of a full car body, half of a car body consisting of two bridged wheel arches, or just two wheel arches. Use the script to quickly generate a base car shape for further design and refinement.

Improvements have also been made to the following Dynamo Player scripts:

  • The DP-Nurbs-Tire.dyn script () no longer requires a construction point input to generate a tire. If a point is not specified as an input, a tire is created at the viewport origin (X=0, Y=0, X=0).
  • The DP-Wheel-Placement.dyn script has improved so that it calculates the total width of the wheel placement more accurately.

For more information, see Dynamo Player Sample Scripts.

Other Dynamo updates

  • You can now use Selection Sets as a way to pick inputs for your Dynamo scripts. A new Use Selection Sets option has been added to the Selection Filter section of Dynamo and Dynamo Player so that you can quickly add objects or object components belonging to a selection set as script inputs.

  • You can now preselect inputs, such as geometry and constructions points, for Dynamo Player and when using the Alias-Dynamo tool.

  • You can use Shift+MMB to chain-select a row of CVs when selecting inputs for a script.
