Hotkeys
Hotkeys can be viewed and modified using the Preferences > Hotkeys/Menus Editor.
Assigned hotkeys are shown on Palette and Menu tools next to the tool name when in list mode. When the palette is displayed in icon mode, use the right mouse button on a tab header to display the fly-out menu in list mode.
Prompt line hotkey mode
There are four types of hotkeys:
- Hotkeys that have a modifier key before a letter or number (
Alt
,Shift
,Ctrl
). For example Ctrl+C, Alt+A. - Function keys F1-F12
- Single hotkeys (excluding a, r and numbers)
- Reserved single hotkeys : a, r and numbers. These are used to enter co-ordinates and values, in either relative or absolute mode.
The first three categories are always available. Use of the reserved single hotkeys (4) is determined by the Auto Numeric Input icon on the prompt line:
Auto Numeric Input: On. In this mode, the reserved single hotkeys (a, r and numbers) cannot be used as hotkeys, as they will be interpreted as co-ordinate or value input.
Auto Numeric Input: Off. In this mode, any hotkey can be assigned, including a, r and numbers. To input a co-ordinate or value into the prompt line, use either the Tab key or click in the prompt line to activate it for tool input instead of hotkey input.
Tab
or clicking in the prompt line is required for both modes.Palette default hotkey assignments
Hotkeys assigned to palette items are only displayed when the palette is in text/menu display mode or by using the right mouse button on the palette tab header in icon view.
