- Whether you typically work in the Layer Bar or Object Lister, we've made enhancements to both tools to improve your workflow.
- For example, clicking a layer or layer folder now displays options for quickly picking objects and assigning them to layers as well as toggling symmetry on and off.
- The Layer Bar also provides access to a full-featured context menu, which is the same as the one in the Object Lister.
- This lets you perform all your layer-related tasks such as creating layers, layer folders, assigning colors, and more, directly from the Layer Bar.
- In the Object Lister, the icon bar provides quick access to layer creation and editing options.
- The filter and sort menus from previous versions of Alias are now combined into a single Filter menu accessible by clicking the filter icon.
- The Settings menu provides access to the Show by options as well as layer controls and object controls.
- For example, you can toggle display of layer state and category membership.
- The More menu provides the options for layers such as creating new layers, assigning objects to layers and toggling visibility on and off.
- You'll notice that the organization of options has changed and the menu includes some options that were only available in the layer menu.
- Like other editors, these options are also available in the context menu.
- We've also made some changes to layer colors.
- For example, the active layer now displays blue.
- When a hidden layer is selected, it also displays blue, but there is an overlay of diagonal lines to indicate its state as hidden.
- To make it easier to see layer and folder colors, they now display in a color bar, which runs down the left side of the lister.
- Objects with construction history now have an H icon displaying in the right hand column.
- Click the icon to toggle Suspend History on and off, and to open the History Visualizer or History View.
- The layer's category editor now known as the Categories Lister has also been improved.
- Categories display as round icons in the Layer Bar and Object Lister.
- If they don't display in the Object Lister, go to the Settings menu and select Categories.
- Note that you can assign colors for categories that are independent of layer colors.
- As in previous versions of Alias, you can assign layers to categories by dragging and dropping a layer onto a category.
- There are also new ways to assign layers to categories which include selecting the layer in the Layer Bar or Object Lister and then clicking the box to the right of the category.
- Or you can assign and unassign layers using the checkmark here.
- These options also appear in the More menu.
- The number of uncategorized layers appears at the bottom of the lister for quick reference.
- There is also a new duplicate category option in the icon bar and in the More menu.
