- Click the External Drawings tab or the Favorites tab.
- Right-click anywhere inside the FIles section A menu is displayed.
- Select File Search. The File Search dialog box is displayed.
- In the Search name box, specify the drawing name to search for. Note:
- You can specify multiple names by enclosing each name in quotes and separate them with a comma (,) or a semicolon (;)
- You can use the wild cards * (to matches any string) and ? (to match any single character) when specifying the file name.
- To narrow your search by date:
- Click Date Options to make the Date options section visible.
- Specify the date filter. Note: You can search for drawings modified between a specified range of dates or within a specified number of months or days.
- Click Search. AutoCAD Mechanical toolset searches the location you specified and lists the files that are found in the search results area.
- In the search results, double-click the file you want. The File highlights in the Structure Catalog. Note: The search dialog box does not close when you double-click files. You can continue working in the Structure Catalog even though this dialog box is open.
