About Using Multiline Text in AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset

Although the MTEXT command supports many options, having to change settings for every multiline text usage scenario can take time. AutoCAD Mechanical toolset multiline text commands minimize the need to change settings by presetting options for several common uses of multiline text.

There are three commands that let you create multiline text of predefined sizes. The AMTEXT3 command corresponds to medium-size text, AMTEXT5 corresponds to large-size text and AMTEXT7 corresponds to very large-size text. These multiline text commands draw text on the predefined mechanical layer assigned for text (AM_6 by default). They therefore comply with the current drafting standard settings.

The AMTEXTHORIZ, AMTEXTCENT, and AMTEXTRIGHT commands create, left, center and right aligned multiline text, respectively. Unlike the AMTEXT3, AMTEXT5 and AMTEXT7 commands, these commands add text to the current layer, and not to the predefined mechanical layers for text objects.

The AMSTYLEITAL, AMSTYLESIMP, AMSTYLESTAND, and AMSTYLETXT commands sets the style settings for the subsequent use of the MTEXT command. These commands have no impact on the AMTEXT3, AMTEXT5 and AMTEXT7 multiline commands.
