Arnold Sky - Arnold for Cinema4d

The Arnold Sky object offers a user-friendly approach to set up image-based lighting or a physical_sky.

The Type combo box allows you to choose between a sky (skydome_light with background enabled) and a physical_sky shader as the background.

See the skydome_light and physical_sky shader page for more information on their parameters.

Light filters can be added to the Arnold Sky and light linking can be set up like in any other lights.

Note:

If you have an Arnold Sky object in the scene, then the Background set in the Arnold Render Settings is ignored.

Note:

The native Cinema 4D Physical Sky is not supported.

Note:

Current limitations:

  • physical_sky is not supported in the viewport.
  • Lighting is not supported in the viewport.
  • If a shader network material is linked to the sky color, then only a root image shader is supported in the viewport, UV settings of the image shader are not supported in the viewport.

Color Texture

To use a texture map as the light color, you must change the mode of the color parameter to texture or material.

In texture mode, you can load an image as a native C4D texture (Bitmap shader). This mode does not allow the use of an Arnold shader network.

In material mode, you can create an Arnold Material and drag & drop it to the color field. The root of the shader network has to be a texture-type shader (e.g. image).

Note:

The Cinema 4D Sky object incorrectly flips the texture compared to Arnold. If you want a matching result, enable flip in the sky parameters.
