KtoA 4.1.7.0 - Arnold for Katana
22 Feb 2023
KtoA 4.1.7.0 includes Arnold core 7.1.4.3 and introduces an important optimization for Katana scenegraph caching and fixes an important regression with color managers.
Installation
- Download the Arnold for Katana plugin
- Follow these installation instructions
Katana 4.5 and 5.0 compatibility
Katana 4.5v3 and 5.0v3 introduced a change where the Arnold USD plugins support in Katana. This release of KtoA supports those versions or newer within their release series. Katana 4.5v1, 4.5v2, 5.0v1 and 5.0v2 are not supported with this release.
Enhancements
- Improved memory usage for scenegraph data: KtoA assists Katana better to allow it to release cached scenegraph data during and after scene translation. This should result in memory savings that can be substantial for complex scenes. (KTOA-850)
Bug Fixes
- KTOA-474 - Roundness is not displayed for the QuadLight when the quad vertices are non-default
- KTOA-849 - Color manager material slot not translated
- ARNOLD-13044 - Lights should update in IPR when their color is set to black and a shader is subsquently connected to it.
- ARNOLD-13013 - Hang in crash handler if a crash happens before rendering
- ARNOLD-12936 - AutoTX cannot create tx file due to access denied error on Windows
- ARNOLD-11223 - Precision issues on the curvature shader with threshold set to 0
- ARNOLD-13041 - [GPU] Connecting an RGBA shader to a surface does not modify the alpha output
- usd#1378 - Ensure CER is disabled during batch hydra renders
- usd#1415 - Fix missing read_skinning.cpp file in the cmake build
System Requirements
Windows 10 or later.
Linux with at least glibc 2.17 and libstdc++ 4.8.5 (gcc 4.8.5). This is equivalent to RHEL/CentOS 7.
CPUs need to support the SSE4.1 instruction set.
GPU rendering works on Windows and Linux only and requires an NVIDIA GPU of the Ampere, Turing, Volta, Pascal, or Maxwell architecture. We recommend using the 525.89 or higher drivers on Linux and 528.49, or higher on Windows. See Arnold GPU for more information.
For GPU rendering, the cache also needs to be re-populated after installing a new Arnold version, updating to a new NVIDIA driver , or changing the hardware configuration of GPUs on the system. More information can be found here.
Optix™ denoiser requires an NVidia GPU with CUDA™ Compute Capability 5.0 and above.
Katana Katana 4.0v1 or newer, Katana 4.5v3 or newer, Katana 5.0v3 or newer, or Katana 6.0v1 or newer.
