24. Revit Enhanced Replace Tool

Informed Design has enhanced the replace command in Revit to easily replace variant instances from a table of existing variants and allow users to work in Revit while new variants are generated.

Launch the replace tool and select the instance or select the instance first and then the replace tool. Only one instance can be replaced at a time.

An instance can be replaced with a different release by configuring a new variant or now by selecting from a list of previously generated variants for the selected release.

If a new variant is required, note that multiple variants can be generated simultaneously from the same instance of the replace command, making the generation process more efficient.

As new variants are being generated, the replace dialogue box can be minimized and other Revit work can be performed.

If the replace command is closed before replacing the original instance, new variant generations will still be processed to completion.

After the variant has been generated, the replace action can be executed and the original variant instance will be replaced, even if that variant is not actively selected.

Once the replacement instance exists in the model, additional variant instances can be replaced using Revit family functionality.

In summary, the enhanced replace command can replace variant instances from a list of previously generated variants, allows users to work in Revit while variants are being generated. And using Revit functionality, designers can efficiently replace multiple instances with any variant in the family browser.
