25. Revit Update Content Tool
**Informed design has added the update content command in Revit to more easily identify and replace out of date variant instances.
Over the lifetime of a product, older releases that are no longer valid will be made obsolete, and new releases will be generated that include additional features and enhancements as shown here in the Informed Design web app.**
To quickly find obsolete and out of date instances within a Revit model, access the update content command from the Informed Design tab.
Variant instances with newer releases available will be identified as active.
Variant instances that are no longer valid will be identified as obsolete.
Select the instance and choose the replace option.
Only one instance can be replaced at a time.
Note that obsolete instances cannot generate new variants or any outputs and must be replaced.
The replace command allows an instance to be replaced with a different release by configuring a new variant or by selecting from a list of previously generated variants for the selected release.
Using Revit functionality, designers can efficiently replace multiple instances with any variant in the family browser.
In summary, the update content tool helps immediately identify older and obsolete variant instances in a Revit model.
Obsolete instances cannot generate outputs and must be replaced, and instances can be modified using the replace command or with any variant in the family browser.
