Use the iOS Mobile App

Use your mobile device to view and manage documents and models, and create and manage markups, issues, and RFIs. Download the BIM 360 iOS app here.

View the Project List

Tap , and then tap the name of the current project, to view the list of all your projects. In this list view you can search for a project by name, and see the most recently viewed projects.

View Documents or Models

Two parent folders are created for every project in BIM 360, the Plans and Project Files folders:

  • Plans: Typically contains the latest set of construction documents, in both 2D document and 3D model formats.
  • Project Files: Typically contains project documents including design data, photos, reports, schedules, budgets, and requirements documents.
  1. Navigate to the folder in the Plans or Project Files tab.
  2. Tap for a List view or for a Grid view of the files in the folder.
  3. Tap to open a document or model.

Follow hyperlinks to access 2D documents and 3D models in the BIM 360 mobile app, or to navigate to external pages or resources.

Note: You can't create any hyperlinks using the BIM 360 mobile app. Hyperlinks can be manually added only in the BIM 360 Docs web application. See Link Documents with Hyperlinks to learn more.

The following types of hyperlinks are available:

  • Automatic: Represented by a green rectangular area, automatic hyperlinks lead to 2D documents or 3D models within the same folder. These hyperlinks are created automatically when you upload RVT, DWG, or DWF 2D sheets.

    Tip: When you tap the green highlighted area of the hyperlink, a preview of the sheet containing callout detail is displayed.
  • Manual: Represented by a blue rectangular area, manual hyperlinks lead to 2D documents or 3D models located in different folders. These hyperlinks are added by the customer while viewing a document.

    Tip: When you tap the blue highlighted area of the hyperlink, a preview of the linked document is displayed.
  • Imported: Link to documents created in third-party PDF editing software such as Acrobat Reader or BlueBeam, or in Revit. Imported hyperlinks lead to external web pages or link between documents or pages of the same document.

Create and Manage Markups, Issues, and RFIs

  1. Tap to open a document or model.
  2. Tap > Markups/Issues/RFIs. The following features are available:
  • Markups: Create and manage design review markups in 2D documents and 3D models. See Markups (iOS) to learn more.

  • Issues: Create and manage issues related to 2D documents. View issues related to 3D models. See Issues (iOS) to learn more.

  • RFIs: View the list of all available RFIs associated with 2D documents and 3D models, at a project or document level. View the activity and any attachments associated with the selected RFI. Filter RFIs by status, assignee, or due date.

    Note: To access the list of RFIs on an iPhone, tap More.
Tip: In the viewer, tap square pins to view RFIs, or round pins to view issues associated with the document. The color of a pin in the viewer corresponds to the RFI or issue status. View the status and activity and manage RFIs associated with 2D documents, and view RFIs in 3D models. You can filter RFIs by status, assignee, or due date.

Show or Hide Markups, Issues, and RFIs

  1. Tap to open a document or model.
  2. Tap .
  3. In the Visibility panel, toggle visibility on/off as needed.
  4. Tap outside the Visibility panel to close it.
  5. Tap X to dismiss.

Download, Update, or Remove a Document or Folder

You can download a document or folder for offline viewing, and remove it from your device when it's no longer needed.

  1. Tap to download.

    When a download is complete, indicates that a document or folder is available for offline viewing.

  2. Select the document or folder and tap .

  3. Tap Update to update the files from the folder to the latest version.

  4. Tap Remove from device.

Tip: Tap Downloads to view the list of all the documents or folders you have downloaded in a project.

View Sync Status

The Sync Status screen displays the status of files, issues, checklists, daily logs, markups, and RFIs that have been set to sync to the cloud when the mobile device is online.

In Downloads, users can view:

  • A list of downloaded files.
  • The status of files to be downloaded to the device.
  • The sync status of files, issues, checklists, daily logs, markups, and RFIs that have been set to be available for offline use.

Users can also:

  • Remove downloaded files.
  • Retry to sync issues, checklists or RFIs if a sync fails.

In Uploads, users can view:

  • The sync status for checklists, issues, daily logs, assets, and RFIs that have been updated on the mobile device and need to be synced when the device is online.

View a PDF Document

You can view PDF documents, such as specifications, within your Project Files using a native mobile PDF viewer.

  1. Tap Project Files.
  2. Select the folder containing the PDF.
  3. Tap the PDF to view it.
  4. Tap X to dismiss.
