How to disable add-Ins for Revit

Issue:

How to disable add-Ins for Revit.

Solution:

Revit 2025.3 and later

  1. Open the Add-ins Manager.
  2. If not using cloud models, click Disable all Add-ins.
  3. If using cloud models, deselect the check mark at the top of the column (to deselect all the items), then recheck the Autodesk Collaborate add-in.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Restart Revit.

2024 and earlier versions

Third-Party utility for disabling add-ins: 

  • Stantec add-in Manager (Free - Open Source)
    1. Download from Bitbucket here.
    2. Unzip download.
    3. Browse to extracted ...BIN\Debug folder.
    4. Open the AddInManager.exe.
    5. Use “Enable/Disable” button to enable or disable the selected add-ons.
  • DiRoots App Manager (Free)
  • Administrative permissions (right click -> run as administrator) may be needed when using these utilities. Also, if working with cloud models, see the Cloud Models section on add-ins that need to remain loaded.
Manually disable add-ins: If you don't want to load a third party utility to manage add-ins, you can also disable these manually (expand)
  1. Close Revit.
  2. Locate the following folder:
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\[Version]
  1. If working with cloud models, see the Cloud Models section on add-ons that need to remain loaded.
  2. Temporarily move the add-on files from the folder to another location.
  3. Start Revit. add-ons will be disabled.
  4. Alternate locations that add-ins could be loaded from:
    1. Add-ins that load into multiple products/versions:
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins
    1. Add-ins loaded for only one user (less common):
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\[Version]
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins

Cloud Models 

If working with models stored on the cloud (BIM 360 Document Management or Autodesk Docs), keep the following Revit cloud components in the add-ins folder (while removing the others):
  • Autodesk.Collaborate.addin
  • ExportViewSelectorApp.addin
  • ExportViewSelectorAddin (Folder)
