To Find Crash Logs (Mobile)

Application crash logs are sent to your computer each time you sync your iPad in iTunes.

First, sync your device on iTunes. Then locate the crash logs, according to your operating system.

Windows 7/Windows Vista

The files are in a path similar to this one.

C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Applecomputer\Logs\CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<DEVICE_NAME>.

Here, <USERNAME> is your login username.

  1. From Windows Explorer, go to the C drive.
  2. Open the Users folder.
  3. Open your username folder.
  4. Open the AppData folder.
  5. Note: This folder may be hidden. To display it, go to a regular Windows folder path. After the username, add \AppData to the path in the address bar; then click Enter.
  6. Open the Roaming folder.
  7. Open the AppleComputer folder.
  8. Open the Logs folder.
  9. Open the CrashReporter folder.
  10. Open the MobileDevice folder.
  11. Open the folder for the device experiencing the problem.
  12. Find files of type CRASH File from about the time of the most recent crash. Attach them to the response ticket, and send the ticket to Support.

Windows XP

The files are in a path similar to this one.

C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter/<DEVICE_NAME>.

Here, <USERNAME> is your login username.

  1. From Windows Explorer, go to the C drive.
  2. Go to Documents And Settings.
  3. Select your username.
  4. Open the Application Data folder.
  5. Note: This folder may be hidden. To display it, go to a regular Windows folder path. After the username, add Application Data to the path in the address bar; then click Enter.
  6. Open the Apple Computer folder.
  7. Open the Logs folder.
  8. Open the CrashReporter folder.
  9. Open the folder for the device experiencing the problem.
  10. Sort the files by Type.
  11. Find files of type CRASH from about the time of the most recent crash. Attach them to the response ticket, and send the ticket to Support.

Mac OS X

On Mac OS X, the files are in a path similar to this one. Here, ~ is your Home folder.

~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<DEVICE_NAME>

  1. Go to the Home folder.
  2. Open the Library folder.
  3. Open the Logs folder.
  4. Open the CrashReporter folder.
  5. Open the MobileDevice folder.
  6. Open the folder for the device experiencing the problem.
  7. Find both the CRASH file and PLIST file from about the time of the most recent crash. Attach them to the ticket and send it to Support.
