About Using Barcodes

Supported Barcodes

BIM 360 Field supports Code 39, Code 128, or Codabar for 1D barcodes and QR Codes for 2D barcodes.

Barcode Setup

Project administrators can link or set up barcodes in the BIM 360 Field web or mobile application. Team members can use the BIM 360 Field mobile app to link codes to equipment, locations, or documents.

There are two use cases. You can use a barcode generator to create barcodes for the project or use existing barcodes to track issues and status in the field.

Equipment

As a project admin, you can predefine barcodes when you import equipment data or manually add equipment barcodes.

Hierarchy Locations

When you set up a project, you can import barcodes or QR codes associated with locations. You can also manually add barcodes by editing locations. Click Profile menu > Project Admin > Locations > Barcode tab. After you add barcodes for a location, you can review issues for that location when you scan that barcode on the BIM 360 Field mobile app.

Library Documents

On the BIM 360 Field mobile app, you can link barcodes to library documents on the fly. Barcodes that you link to documents aren't visible in the BIM 360 Field web application. They appear in the mobile app.
