Sheets Authoring Guide
The Sheets tool enables members with Create + Upload permission or above to upload PDF or RVT files and publish sheets to the field.
During the sheets publishing process, the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) reads PDF files and automatically extracts sheet numbers and titles for review. After publication, sheet number callouts are matched against sheets in the project and converted to links.
This guidance provides best practice for sheet designers who are working in AutoCAD or other authoring software. By adhering to these basic principles and best practices when generating sheets, you can increase the accuracy of OCR's ability to read these sheet numbers, titles and automatically create links.
Members can also publish RVT files (which contain 2D sheets) to the Sheets tool. All sheet information is extracted directly from the Revit metadata and does not use OCR.
The following table details which information is automatically extracted during the publishing process for vector PDFs, raster PDFs, and RVT files. You can click the links in the Read from column to view specific guidance and examples for authoring sheets.
