Best Practices for Using the Geotechnical Modeler
The Geotechnical Modeler incorporates various subsurface and sample data into a Civil 3D project through the creation of a local database on your machine. This results in all sample data and Geotechnical Modeler objects being restricted to that original machine containing the database. There are currently no workflows to share or move Geotechnical Modeler data between drawings or workstations.
The Geotechnical Modeler tool was built to support a wide variety of project data sources and does so by leveraging the CSV file format. This simple and readable file format allows engineers and drafters to create compatible datasets with nothing more than a text editor. Refer to the sample CSV data files to verify any standards and formatting required. Support for the CSV file format allows you to generate acceptable datasets from hardcopy reports as well as other software and data sources.
It is recommended that geology codes used in the generated dataset are compatible with the AGS standards to facilitate the automation of hatch patterns created by the tool.
