Generating Borehole Stratum Surfaces in the Geotechnical Modeler

One of the key features of the Geotechnical Modeler is to provide engineers, drafters, designers, and scientists the ability to manage and create strata surfaces. To generate TIN surfaces from the sample data follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Build Surface dialog box by selecting Geotechnical Modeler Panel Build Stratum Surfaces from the ribbon.
  2. Ensure that the Stratum Surfaces checkbox is selected.
  3. From the drop-down for Geology Field select the desired field.
  4. To generate subsurface stratum surfaces that follow an existing ground surface, toggle the Dynamic Differential button. The elevations and TINs for the borehole samples will now flow with the existing ground surface which yields a more realistic visualization.
  5. From the bottom of the dialog box select the Build Surfaces button. A TIN representing the various strata layers of the samples should now appear in the Prospector tree:
