Play a Graph in Dynamo Player

Launch a Dynamo graph in a Civil 3D drawing.

  1. Open the drawing in Civil 3D, and open the required view.

  2. Locate the graph to run in Dynamo Player. For detailed steps, see Select a Graph Directory for Dynamo Player

  3. (Optional) If the list is exceedingly long, use the Search field to narrow the search.

  4. Hover over the graph in the list and click (Play).

A process indicator will show the graph is running.

If the graph requires inputs, the Inputs dialog box is displayed. For details, see Provide Input for a Graph from Dynamo Player.

Note that if a different graph is already open in Dynamo for Civil 3D, it will be closed so that the graph selected in Dynamo Player can be opened. To view or run a Dynamo Player graph while Dynamo for Civil 3D is running, the graph must be open in Dynamo to extract the necessary information. You will be prompted to save any changes in Dynamo before the graph is closed.

When complete, the graph reports its status as Run completed or Completed with errors.

Note: Dynamo Player uses the version of Dynamo installed with the version of Civil 3D where Dynamo Player is playing the graph. If newer versions of Dynamo are installed Dynamo Player will still user the version of Dynamo installed with Civil 3D.

When playing a graph in Dynamo Player, consider the following:

  • Cancel. Once a graph starts running, you cannot cancel it from Dynamo Player. If you want to cancel the graph in progress, switch to Civil 3D and press ESC.
  • Undo. To reverse the results of running a Dynamo Player graph, use the U Command in Civil 3D.
  • Language. Match the language of the Dynamo graph to the language of the Civil 3D user interface. Graphs using a different language from the user interface may not run correctly.
