Supported Geometry for Export

Learn what geometry the IFC 4.3 Extension for Civil 3D can export.

AutoCAD Block References, 3D Solids, points (DBPoints) and 3D Polylines are supported. This includes the following geometry.

Civil 3D Geometry

  • Coordinate Systems
  • COGO Points
  • COGO Point Groups
  • Alignments
    • Design, surface, and multiple profiles are supported as single alignments
  • Surfaces
    • TIN Surfaces Only. Break lines and voids are supported.
  • Feature Lines
  • Bridges
  • Bridge Parts
  • Sites
  • Parcels
  • Corridors
    • Points export as feature lines
    • Links export as lofted surfaces
    • Shapes export as sectional solids
    • If corridor solids exist in the same drawing they are used as backup geometry for the sectional solids, otherwise static mesh is exported as backup
  • Pressure Networks
  • Gravity Networks

AutoCAD Objects

  • Most objects derived from AutoCAD solids
  • AutoCAD 3D Points
  • AutoCAD block references containing the listed Civil 3D objects above or supported AutoCAD solids

Property Set Data

Metadata attached to objects export with property set data. For gravity networks and pressure networks, connector and structure part data is extracted. When exporting with the IFC 4.3 Extension for Civil 3D data is overwritten when the value is placed in a predefined property set object such as COGO Points, Alignments, Surfaces, Featurelines, Sites, and Corridors.

Note: Objects on frozen or locked layers or those that are contained inside block definitions do not have the property set data added. Their GUID will change when re-eported.

If the GUID property set values do not exist on objects, they are assigned and added during the export process. This allows for consistent identity data during re-export operations.
