About the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) File Format

IFC formats, as well as any associated documentation and materials created by buildingSMART, are third-party material as defined in the Autodesk Terms of Use.

What is IFC?

IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) is a standardized, digital description of the built environment. It is an open, international standard (ISO 16739-1:2018) that facilitates interoperability in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry. IFC allows different software applications to exchange information about a building or infrastructure project throughout its lifecycle.
