Use this dialog box to specify options before you import points from an ASCII (text) file or a Microsoft® Access database (.mdb) file.

Format: Specifies the format determining how the point data is arranged in the file from which the points will be imported.
Point Format: Opens the Point File Formats dialog box. Select a point file format, edit a point file format, or create a new point file format to use when importing the point data.
Source File: Specifies the name of the point data file that contains the points to be imported. Enter a file name, including the full path name.
File Selector: Opens the Select Source File dialog box. Browse to the folder where the point data file to be imported is located. Select the file name, and click Open.

Specifies whether the imported points are added to a point group:

Selected: Adds the imported points to the specified point group and to the _All Points point group.
Cleared: Adds the imported points only to the _All Points point group.

Add Points To Point Group

Specifies the point group to which imported points are added when is selected.

Opens the Point File Formats - Create Group dialog box. Specify a point group name.

Advanced Options

Do Elevation Adjustment If Possible: Specifies that elevation adjustments are performed during import. The point file format must contain Z+, Z-, or Thickness columns. For more information, see Adjusting Elevation During Import and Export.
Do Coordinate Transformation If Possible: Specifies that coordinate transformations should occur during import. The point file format must have a coordinate zone assigned to it, and the current drawing must have coordinate zone and transformation information defined. The points that are imported are transformed to match the zone of the current drawing.
Do Coordinate Data Expansion If Possible: Specifies that coordinate data properties of the points, such as degrees, minutes, seconds, and hemisphere for latitude and longitude, should be calculated if possible. These values are calculated from known coordinate data information contained in the point data file, such as grid northing and grid easting.
