Insert property fields in text components to add content that is linked directly to drawing components.
Label text generated by most property fields is dynamic and is updated whenever changes are made to a drawing.
As you view the property field in the edit pane of the Text Component Editor, the characters are defined and separated by the following symbols:
For example, the property field format may look like this:

Property fields attributes are formatted with predefined modifiers, such as measurement units (acres, feet, and meters), precision, and rounding.

To add property fields to label text
- In the Label Style Composer dialog box, click the Layout tab.
- Select a component from the Component Name list, or create a new text component.
- Under Text, click the Value column for Contents, and then click
. - In the Text Component Editor dialog box, click the Properties tab.
- From the Properties list, select a property.
Note
If you have defined user-defined property classifications, these are displayed in the Properties list for you to select and add to certain label styles. For more information, see User-defined Property Classifications.
The modifier values are displayed in the grid below the property.
NoteBecause certain label style types have many possible properties, an additional filtering feature is provided for these types so you can restrict the list. Click
to display the Property Filter Property Filter dialog box. A filter remains active until you turn it off. - In the Value column, change the modifier values.
- Click
to insert the property into the text window. - Click OK.
