Create a customized design criteria file to reflect your local standards.
If you do not want to use or modify the provided design criteria file, you can create a custom design criteria file in either of the following ways:
- Copy the provided design criteria file. Rename the copy, and then modify the copy to reflect your design standards.
- Create an empty design criteria file. Add your local standards using the schema that is defined in the design criteria file.
To copy the provided design criteria file
- Click an alignment or profile in the drawing.
- In the Design Criteria File Editor Dialog Box, click
.
- In the dialog box, select the design criteria file you want to copy. Click .
- In the Design Criteria File Editor Dialog Box, click
.
- In the dialog box, enter a new name for the design criteria file. Click .
Note
Design criteria files are saved in this directory: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users|Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCAD Civil 3D2013\enu\Data\Corridor Design Standards\<units>. The criteria-based design feature uses the first file found in the directory. To ensure that your new file is used by default, give it a name that places it before all other files in the directory.
- In the dialog box, click
to expand all nodes in the tree on the left side of the dialog box.
- Select the desired
table. The table contents are displayed in the grid view on the right side of the dialog box.
- Edit contents of the design criteria file as desired.
- To create new
tables and folders in the tree view, right-click the desired node and use the commands on the context menu.
- To edit a value, double-click the value.
- To add a row to a table, click
.
- To remove a row from a table, click
.
- Click to save the new design criteria file and close the dialog box.
To create an empty design criteria file
- Click an alignment or profile in the drawing.
- In the Design Criteria File Editor Dialog Box, click

An untitled design criteria file is created, with empty , , and folders in the tree view.
- In the tree view, right-click . Click either or .
- In the grid view, specify values for the units parameters.
- In the tree view, right-click either the or folder. Click the desired table category.
- Right-click the table category folder you created in Step 5. Click the desired table.
- Enter a name for the table you created in Step 6.
- Edit contents of the table as desired.
- To edit a value, double-click the value.
- To add a row to a table, click .
- To remove a row from a table, click .
- Repeat Steps 5 through 8 to add more tables to the design criteria file.
- In the dialog box, click
.
- In the dialog box, enter a new name for the design criteria file. Click .
