Set up a Bridge in Design Collaboration

The Bridge tool is organized into three tabs that you can use to view information about your bridged projects and the content being shared to and from your project:

  • Bridged Projects tab - shows the projects that this project has been bridged with.
  • Outgoing tab - shows the files and packages shared to bridged projects from this project.
  • Incoming tab - shows the files and packages received by this project from bridged projects.

Refer to the general Bridge help for more information.

Bridged Projects tab

The Bridged projects tab shows the projects that this project has been bridged with, and is also where you can create bridges with other projects.

Creating a bridge to another project allows you to easily manage team automations to those projects. If you delete the bridge, all automations to and from that project will also be deleted. Both projects will retain any information previously sent through the bridge.

Bridge a New Project

To create a bridge with a project:

  1. On the Bridged Projects tab, click the Bridge a new project button.

  2. In the Bridge a new project dialog box, enter the email address of the invitee and optionally add a message describing your invitation.

  3. Click the Send invitation to bridge a project button to send the invitation.

An invitation will be sent to the invitee and the project will show as 'Pending' in the Bridged Projects tab.

  4. If you've already created bridges with projects, click a project row to view details of the team automations and their status, or to delete the bridge.

Accept a Bridge Invitation

If another project has requested to create a bridge with your project, the invitee they added when creating the bridge will receive an email and notification, which they can click to accept the request.

Delete a Bridge

To delete a bridge:

  1. On the Bridged Projects tab, click a project row.
  2. In the details panel that opens on the right, click Delete bridge.

The connection between the two projects is deleted, along with any associated team automations.

Note: Any teams that had automations set up for that bridged project, and any packages shared by those teams, will remain visible and accessible in the External section of the Project timeline in the bridged project, even after the bridge has been deleted.

Outgoing and Incoming tabs

The Outgoing tab shows files and packages shared to bridged projects from this project. The Incoming tab shows files and packages received by this project from other projects.

View outgoing or incoming details

  1. Click in a row to open a detailed view of the files and folders sent or received as part of this package.
  2. Click the name of a file or folder to view it in Docs. Folders are opened in the shared folder, and files are opened in the viewer.
