Define Clamps (PartMaker)

Use this menu option to display the Clamp Group Parameters dialog.

Tip: This menu option is available only in PartMaker/Mill.

Use the Clamp Group Parameters dialog to define work holdings, such as hold-down clamps and vices, as follows:

  1. Using PartMaker's CAD mode, create 2D representations of the location of the work holding. In the following example, four hold-down clamps have been created:

  2. Switch to CAM mode, and select Part Features > Define Clamps.
  3. Complete the Clamp Group Parameters dialog to specify parameters for the clamp group, including its name.
  4. In the same way in which you assign a part feature to geometry when defining a toolpath, use the Chain Geometry icon to assign the clamp group to the clamp geometry you created in Step 1, for example:

  5. When you have completed these steps, you can view the work holding in 3D in the Simulation window.
