Wire EDM example part 7: Adding a taper angle

This example shows you how to add a draft angle to a wire EDM part.

  1. Open the Part View panel, right-click the die1 feature under Setup1 and select Properties.
  2. In the Properties dialog for die1:
    1. Select Constant.
    2. Select a taper type of Left.
    3. Enter a deg. of 10 as the taper angle.
    4. Click Apply.
  3. Click View tab > Visibility panel > Hide menu > Hide Stock.
  4. Click View tab > Views panel > Isometric Views menu > Isometric.

  5. Return back to the Properties dialog, set the taper type to Right, and click Apply.

  6. Change the taper type back to Left, and click OK to close the Properties dialog.
  7. Click Home tab > Simulation panel > Sim mode menu > 3D to change the simulation type.
  8. Click Play on the Simulation toolbar to start the simulation.

  9. Click Home tab > Select & Edit panel > Select menu > Single or Box Select.
  10. Click inside the curve to hide that part of the stock.

  11. Click Stop to end the simulation.
  12. Click View tab > Visibility panel > Show menu > Show Stock.
